My SO was going to build his own chopper and advertised for parts. Some guy called and wanted to sell a chopper almost done and chromed out for $2,000. My SO said he didn't want to spend that much. The guy called back a week later. He must have really needed the money. My SO bought it for $900. It looks good. I told him I could make it into a real showpiece if he would allow my input.
From what I gather, it has a springer 18" front end, gladiator bars, chrome front wheel, 750 Honda frame and engine. He needs forward controls, do something with the seat, chrome rear wheel and then skulls and paint the tank. The fenders are chrome. It has the high back rest. Needs the carbs cleaned, new grips and then whatever else would look good.
WD, you'd love it. Too bad I don't have a digital camera to post pictures. If I get ahold of one, I'll post some pics.
I guess the Virago will be going this spring to pay for the chopper. That was the real reason he looked at the chopper anyways. Oh well,I have the Savage. There's an 1100 Virago for sale in really good condition for about $700. To bad we don't have any extra money. I don't think I'll be able to get the car in the garage for the winter with all the bikes in there.
My SO really knows how to find deals on bikes. Buy low, sell high.
